By STEVE KRASKE

The Kansas City Star

Meeting in Kansas City on Saturday, the Constitution Party tapped talk show host Chuck Baldwin over former ambassador Alan Keyes as its 2008 presidential nominee.
The pick was seen as something of an upset, given Keyes’ higher national profile. Known for his fiery stemwinders, Keyes is a two-time GOP presidential candidate who abandoned the Republican Party this month to join the Constitution Party, which stands for limited government and is committed to ending abortion and bringing U.S. troops home from Iraq.
But Baldwin’s roots in the Constitution Party run deeper. He was the party’s 2004 vice-presidential candidate, and party members said his stands were more in line with party thinking.
Still, the two waged a fierce battle in the days leading up to the vote, described as the most contentious in the party’s 16-year history. Baldwin wound up winning easily, 384-126. The Missouri and Kansas delegations basically split their votes between the two.
“They just rejected the most qualified man to be president,” said Tom Hoefling of Lohrville, Iowa, who is Keyes’ national political director. “Chuck Baldwin will have no impact on this election whatsoever.”
But Baldwin backers said the party was committed to remaining true to its values and growing itself from the inside. That approach will better sustain the party over the long run, said delegate Thom Holmes of Chandler, Okla., even though Keyes might have drawn more votes.
In his acceptance speech, Baldwin said his presidency would be committed to halting abortion and illegal immigration, the streamlining of the federal government, the tapping of oil reserves in Alaska that would lead to a return of $1.50-a-gallon gas prices and withdrawal from Iraq.
Baldwin pledged not only to pull out of the U.N., but also to push the international organization out of the country.
He said he would phase out the Internal Revenue Service and end the paying of personal income taxes. He said the country should return to the gold standard.

Dear Friends of Life & Liberty Under God,

2007 was a banner year for the Mississippi Constitution Party & our efforts to “Restore American Law to its Biblical Foundations and Restrain American Government to its Constitutional Limits” — but we cannot rest on our past advances. The size of the task before us is still daunting. Our fight for the right to life; for the family; for freedom under Christ; for limited, legitimate, & local (decentralized) government; for US sovereignty against globalist & for State sovereignty against an ever encroaching Central government; for our rights to keep and bear arms without infringement; the security and stability of our state against an invasion from South of the border.
And against the Messianic Statism; Centralizing globalism; Hedonistic Death Culture; and an encroaching tyrannizing, anti-family/ anti-freedom, two-party, elitist, big-government/ big money/ big media cabal that sees our lives, children, and property as resources for the government that thinks the ear th is the politician’s and the fullness thereof. And a system that believes all things are owned by “society”, all rights come from government, and the only rights that matter are the false rights to perversion & child killing.

However, while the work seems impossible to us — “all things are possible with God”. We must not “despise our day of small beginnings” , but rather remember that “duty is ours, results are God’s.”

We invite you to join us.

Our 2008 Quadrennial State Convention of the Mississippi Constitution Party has been scheduled for Saturday, April 12, at the Meeting Hall on the behind Thomas Ray Floyd’s office on Hwy 49 South of Mendenhall. (This is conveniently located on a four lane hwy about 45 minutes South of Jackson & about an hour North of Hattiesburg. Contact info for directions are at the bottom.)

* If you are an officer, former candidate, member, or supporter of the Constitution Party it is crucial that you attend.
* If you are a like-minded Christian Constitutionalists , traditional conservative, or supporter of the things that we believe who is in the fight in another organization, we welcome you to attend to learn more about our Party & explore ways we can work together.

At the State Convention we will conduct state party business including:
* Discussion and possible alteration in our party platform & bylaws
* Election of State Party Officers to four year terms.
* Review of the 2007 Mississippi State Elections
* Discussion & Planning for Future Elections & Issues we will be involved in here in Mississippi
( including an effort to end legal abortion in Mississippi; Immigration Reform & Enforcement; Protection for the Family; Property Rights; Comprehensive Tax Reform; Education Reform; A plan to roll back Judicial Usurpations & Federal Encroachments; Stopping the Use of Mississippi Tax Dollars to Promote the Muslim Religion; and even Vaccinations & the right of family farms to sell raw milk to their neighbors)
* and Determining which — if any — candidates to support OR ACTIVELY OPPOSE in the 2008 Congressional Elections

We will also deal with Business related to the Presidential Election & our Party’s involvement with the National Constitution Party including :
* Selection of National Committee Representatives to Attend the Constitution Party National Committee’s Presidential Nominating Convention in Kansas City in April
* Recommendations to the National Party on the Platform & other issues
* Selection of Presidential Electors
* Nomination of Presidential & Vice Presidential Candidates
( understanding that the final nomination will be made by the National Convention)

We also hope to have a couple of excellent speakers ( yet to be named)

Please RSVP ASAP . Contact Thomas Ray Floyd ( below) for Directions to the Meeting Hall

A Convention Agenda will be published & sent to all pre-confirmed attendees. If you want something added to the Agenda, please let us know ASAP. We will be following a fairly loose, moderate version of Roberts Rules of Order as long as things can run smoothly.

In the last election, I wrote in some candidates, and voted for Republicans that I believed to be principled conservatives.

Tate Reeves was one of the the Republicans that I voted for with a pretty good bit of confidence. By all accounts he’s a pretty good fellow & has done an excellent job.

He is alledgely a fiscal conservative. This week he unveiled the proposal below to have the state “start savings accounts at birth with a $500 contribution with those accounts to be managed by the state with the option to put up to $2,000 into those accounts each year. ”

How can anyone think this is a legitimate function of government ?!?!?

Even if this is not a consideration, does anyone not see the potential unintended consquences from this sort of proposal ?
*** Since this was proposed by a Republican, I wonder how long before some Democrat decides to top this and make the $500 contribution retroactive to 2 year olds ? 3 year olds ? etc ?

*** Just like Social Security, how long will it be before this becomes nothing but a “slush fund” for the legislature ?
Which road was it, again, that was paved with good intentions ?

By SHELIA BYRD
Associated Press Writer
Posted on Tue, Nov. 13, 2007

JACKSON, Miss. –Children born in the nation’s poorest state would start their lives with a bank account under a proposal designed to strengthen Mississippi’s economy while building individual finances for education and other investments.

If approved by lawmakers, the “Child Accounts” project could help improve the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of children living in Mississippi by giving them a potential net worth that would exceed that of most families in the state.

State Treasurer Tate Reeves, who discussed the proposal during a forum here Tuesday, said a bill could be presented during the 2008 Legislature that convenes in January.

Under the preliminary plan, the state provides a $500 endowment to every child born over the next five years. Up to $2,000 could be contributed yearly to each child’s account by friends or families. Private financial institutions would manage the money until the child turns 18 and could access the funds for education, homeownership or other investments.

The program is modeled after one started in the United Kingdom in 2005.

Reeves said Mississippi, like much of the nation, has a negative savings rate.

“It’s a catalyst for a change in behavior,” Reeves said. “Convincing more people to save more is a way to build wealth. Building our wealth and having more capital available for investment would help improve our long-term outlook.”

Reeves said if the state was to bear the cost alone for the endowments, it could cost upward of $20 million a year. However, he said the private sector would be courted for the project.

“It’s vitally important that we have a significant buy-in by the private sector. Government alone cannot efficiently provide the services,” he said.

Bill Bynum, CEO of the Enterprise Corporation of the Delta, said the total cost of the program would be $100 million over five years. Bynum said the ECD would help raise $25 million in private funding.

Bynum said the $75 million in state funding would generate $1 billion over 18 years and “that money would be reinvested in the state economy in a variety of ways.”

State Rep. George Flaggs Jr., D-Vicksburg, a member of the Joint Legislative Budget Committee, said the program deserves “serious consideration” by lawmakers next session.

Flaggs said the proposal is similar to what Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton has proposed nationally. Clinton wants the government to give $5,000 to every child born in the U.S. for future college or home purchase costs.

“I can agree with a private-public funding partnership in helping the children with their future,” Flaggs said. “I don’t want to commit to dollars and cents until we release our (legislative) budget in December.”

The Aspen Institute Initiative on Financial Security and the ECD also participated in Tuesday’s forum. The Aspen Institute is a think tank that has worked on the program with other financial organizations.

The ECD, a nonprofit that works to build assets and businesses in low-wealth communities, released a report on Tuesday that said the accounts could be worth up to $56,000 with a maximum yearly contribution. The report said the program would benefit over 210,000 children estimated to be born over the next five years.

The ECD report calculated the median net worth of Mississippi households as $22,495, ranking the state 49th in the nation. Almost 1 in 5 households has zero or negative net worth.

Moving the state forward economically would require improving educational attainment - something the accounts could d o, said Bynum.

“For so long the state has been recognized for leading the nation in all the wrong things,” Bynum said.

Statement by Mississippi CP Chairman & Candidate for Commissione of Agriculture on Immigration :

Riley For Agriculture Statement on Illegal Immigration
Hello,

My name is Les Riley. I am a fellow Christian, father, and citizen of Mississippi.

I am also the Chairman of the Mississippi Constitution Party and a candidate for Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture.

I, like many of you, have an understanding of the fact that we are a nation of immigrants and hold no-ill will towards any who have come to this country for legitimate reasons and who have done so legally.

But, I am also gravely concerned about the threat that unchecked illegal immigration poses to our survival & well being.

* The millions of third world illegal aliens who have no intention of assimilating into American society, but who still fly the flags of their native lands pose a threat to our culture and social fabric

* The flood of low wage illegal aliens into our State and nation threatens our economic stability by taking opportunity from poor Americans, as well as placing a burden on our already overstretched schools, hospitals, and social services — without paying any taxes in.

* Allowing, untold numbers of illegal aliens to flaunt our laws without fear threatens the very foundations of law and order.

* And in a post 9-11 world, when we have our sons & daughters risking their lives across the globe, it is downright suicidal to allow this insane policy to continue.

* On the other hand, I, as a Christian in the 21st Century, am appalled by the fact that our leaders are seeking another class to exploit and use for their own personal, political, and financial gain. It is shocking that there are some who seem to be seeking another near slave class who have few rights or recourse .

With some notable exceptions, the Democratic & Republican Parties in Washington and Jackson, have ignored their constituents and betrayed their duties by both their inaction and their bogus reform plans that are little more than thinly veiled amnesty.

The Mississippi Constitution Party has been consistently on the right side on immigration for 15 years. If you want to send a message to the Democrats and Republicans who ignore their constituents on immigration, please consider voting for and supporting Les Riley for Ag Commissioner and other Constitution Party candidates in the Nov. 2007 General Election.

“The time has come, not to say that it’s a failure today, but to say that it’s an opportunity — for farmers, fishing communities or developing countries — to have real public debate about food sovereignty,” said Jose Bove, a French farmer and one of the standard bearers of the anti-Doha movement in recent years. . . .

This is an old story ( linked below), but well worth reviving .

We would probably have a number of significant disagreements with some of these folks on the role of government, private property, and various other issues
BUT this is good news

“It is very, very important to our agriculture industries and our manufacturing industries to get better access to the markets of the world and this is going to slow that process down,” said Australian Trade Minister Mark Vaile.

It is good to see the New World Order agenda slowed & frustrated (especially by yokels & peasants that many of these would be rulers in Brussells & New York sneer at)

Agriculture was at the core of the failure of the trade talks, as the EU, the United States and emerging nations accused each other for intransigeance.

And PRAISE GOD for this :

“Ministers were speaking to their respective galleries, but not to each other,” said Jean-Pierre Lehmann, head of the Evian Group thinktank on world trade.

“It was abundantly clear that the sense of a global community required to provide the cement to the global market was absent, and is absent,” he added.

One of the underlying trends in both on the American scene & in international geo-politics is the growing rift between rural/ small town & urban/ suburban interests.
The Red-Blue politcal maps that everyone keeps shoving in our faces is just the tip of the iceberg ( and it will begin to fissure more as more folks in flyover country realize that the Bush crowd just want them for votes, money & cannon fodder).

The limosine liberals ultimately want to empty the countryside and turn the Great Plains into a big buffalo park. ( sort of like Stalin).
So called conservatives see God’s creation as nothing but “resources” and rural/ small town people as nothing but “cheap labor” to build make their brick-a-brack; consumers to fuel their “global economy” at Wal Mart; and “brave men & women” to fight their wars.
By and large our local customs & slow-paced lifestyles are seen as backwards.
Sadly, many well-meaning folks who want to help their communities play right into the hands of the “progressives” who want to turn their small towns into McTowns.

Ultimately, the way the elitists deal with the threat of an awakening among the “sheeple” in the countryside who just want to be left alone is to do what Marxist do best :
“Divide & Conquer”

They set the “big farmers” against the “small farmers”. Organic vs conventional. Hunters against producers. Enviormentalists vs those who live on the land.

It works quite well . . .

Democrat Chair Rita MoranRita Moran is well-known in Central Maine as the longstanding Kennebec County Democrat Chair and the the owner of Apple Valley Books at 121 Main Street in Winthrop. Less well-known is Moran’s involvement in one of Maine’s thriving underground pagan worship circles.Self-described as being interested in “mythology and folklore” and “nature-based religion,” Moran promotes and actively participates in the Immanent Grove Gnostic pagan worship group, located at 2328 Bog Road in Sidney, Maine. She is also involved with the Earthtides Pagan Network of Maine, and states publicly that pagans like her “…are polytheistic” and “…most of us are sincere pacifists.”

Immanent Grove Pagan idol
Through her Apple Valley Books website, she promotes the expansion of the Immanent Grove pagan group. She sells “…locally crafted ‘Book Jewels’…at Apple Valley Books and other locations, with a portion of sales supporting the Pagan Preserves Project.” The “Pagan Preserves Project” is also referred to more vaguely by the group as the “Steeple Fund.”

This fund raises money “…toward the long-term goal or purchasing property in central Maine for use by Pagans. What we [pagans] envision is a property of several acres within an easy drive of the Augusta area, suitable for multiple outdoor uses. Eventually, a multi-purpose building may be possible, but in the meantime, open circles, camping retreats, small outdoor fairs similar to [Maine’s] Pagan Pride Days, outdoor shrines, and a labyrinth…”

Moran’s Immanent Grove pagan-worshipping group is known throughout the New England region as having Maine’s only shrine to Hecate, the Greek goddess of witchcraft and magic, at its Bog Road location in Sidney.

Perhaps most disturbing of all is the involvement of Moran’s Apple Valley Books store in promoting her pagan-worshipping beliefs to Maine’s children. Moran’s store is one of only three bookstores nationwide that is listed as a children’s resource on the ” Pagans’n'Parenting” website. This website is a pagan resource for parents to involve their children in pagan worship. Moran’s bookstore offers a 10% discount to parents who buy pagan wares (books, Tarot cards, etc.) from her for their children.

Moran’s Apple Valley Books website not only proudly displays the Immanent Grove Gnostic pagan webpage, but also links directly to the Witchvox website, the pagan ritual website Omphalos, the pagan god website Temenos of Dionysos, and a ” Teen Advice on Paganism” website

After years of having their Christian heritage, symbols, and traditions pushed out of the public square by Marxist lawyers in the ACLU & their allies in the judiciary, Mississippians are now being forced to pay for black Muslim propaganda & mythology. According to their web site, the International Museum of Muslim Culture receives funding from — among others : The City of Jackson; Hinds County; Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau; the Mississippi Arts Commission; and the Mississippi Division of Tourism. These agencies are funded with tax dollars.

Imagine the “Separation of Church & State” outcry if a “Mississippi Southern Baptist Evangelism Museum” received taxpayer money. In our society, the owners, supporters and free-will financial backers of this Muslim Museum are welcome to believe whatever historical fantasies and religious blasphemies that they chose. They are free to try and convince others of the merits of their position. They are not, however, free to force the Christian majority in the state to pay for it.

Beyond this, in a time when Mississippi’s young people are sent to the far reaches of the world to bleed and die in the name of fighting Islamic terrorism, it is unconscionable for the state of Mississippi to be funding a museum that promotes the religion that is the foundation of this terrorism. Mosques and Islamic Centers have repeatedly been found to have ties to terrorists.

Even if this not the case, the great Southerner, Richard Weaver warned us that “Ideas have Consequences”. Therefore, we call on the Mississippi Legislature to immediately cut off any & all taxpayer funds to this religious organization, and Mississippi citizens to hold them accountable — at the ballot box & in the courts — if they do not. Here in Mississippi there is growing frusration with the way both big parties have ignored their oaths of office & their constiuents’ wishes on issues like immigration.
In response, this year, Mississippi will have more “Third Party Candidates” running for the state legislature than at anytime since the 1920’s. The largest contributing factor to this is the fine crop of outsider, citizen-statesmen below.

No jobs for US citizens without Homeland Security approval
Press Esc | May 29, 2007

US citizens who apply for a job will need prior approval from Department of Homeland Security under the terms immigration bill passed by the Senate this week.
American Civil Liberties Union pointed out that the DHS’s Employment Eligibility Verification System (EEVS) is error plagued and if the department makes a mistake in determining work eligibility, there will be virtually no way to challenge the error or recover lost wages due to the bill’s prohibitions on judicial review.

Even current employees will need to obtain eligibility approval from the DHS Within 60 days of the Immigration Reform Act of 2006 becoming law.
“EEVS would be a financial and bureaucratic nightmare for both businesses and workers,” said Timothy Sparapani, ACLU Legislative Counsel. “Under this already flawed program no one would be able to work in the U.S. without DHS approval - creating a ‘No Work List’ similar to the government’s ‘No Fly List.’ We need immigration reform, but not at this cost.”

The act allocates US$400 million for the implementation of the EEVS, but the Congressional Budgeting Office estimates the system to cost in excess of a billion dollars.
